"When did you come to India? How do you like Hyderabad? How do you like the Indian salwar-kameez?" These were some of the questions that students of Osmania University fielded at two student-tourists from the US who hopped on to the campus to get a glimpse of an Indian University.
One could see instant bonding between the group of students and their foreign friends. Jessica Sullivan is a sociology major who plans to become the director of a non-profit organisation after she completes her Masters in Social Work. She and her friend, Christen Olds, who is studying hotel, and tourism and still unsure of what career to get into, sat down with a group of students, eagerly sharing different perspectives.
Hyderabad, said Jessica was a cool place, with lot of places to go to and hang out with friends. "Have you watched an Indian movie?' asked an student to which came the reply, "Yes we watched one on the plane. It is a Hindi movie, about a struggling Bollywood actor."As the duo had an Indian attire on they were asked how they found it. "It is very comfortable and feminine," came the reply.
Homework time
What do you like about Indian education? Asked one and the reply was, "the system of academic communities staying together and studying together." A parting note among friends as it always is, why are you leaving so early (they plan to go back this weekend), "We have lots of homework to catch up with!!"
