Major B-schools set up stalls in this `Junction'. Aspirants got a feel of the expectations and other requirements
|
Junction MBA was the apt name. College students who attended this meeting held by the coaching centre, Career Launcher got a sense of the kind of training different business schools impart and what to expect once they step out of these schools. In addition, they were also able to fathom what industries expected of them.
Kirloskar Institute, Institute of Management Studies, Mudra Institute of Communications (MICA), Entrepreneurial and Management Processes International (EMPI), ICFAI, Welingkar Institute of Management, Institute of Technology and Management, International Management Institute (IMI) were some of the business schools that put up stalls here. Professors of these institutes spoke to the students of the prospects in the fields of marketing, finance and human resources. Sreenidhi who works at Career Launcher said that the meeting was a neutral platform for `interaction' between aspiring management students and B-school delegates.
"You must be confident of your capabilities, if you think you can make it here," said Professor of Finance of Management Development Institute (MDI), Debashis Sanyal.
Leadership myth
Demolishing the hype around leadership, he said leadership is required only where the team is not well-trained. A holistic experience of management is something students must look to gain.
Madhavi Lokhande from the Welingkar Institute that business schools prepare students by educating them in management apart from technical grooming. Choose the business school where you think you can do well and select the specialisation that will give you the best, she said. MNCs recruit on the basis of academic excellence, she added.
Nitish who works at Career Launcher said that though business schools ask for work experience, graduates are being increasingly recruited.
Students stopped at the stalls of the business schools, to gather information about the admission procedure, fee break-up, placements and work experience.
The small ones
"All know about the big B-schools. But we get to know very little of the likes of Kirloskar and Welingkar. These meetings help in this regard," said Satish Pathak, a student of DVR Engineering college.
