AIIMS entrance on June 1

The All-India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) has invited applications for admission into MBBS course commencing on August 1, 2006. Selection is based on entrance test to be held on June 1.

Those who have passed Plus Two equivalent examination with physics, chemistry, biology and English securing a minimum of 60 per cent marks (SC/ST required 50 per cent) taken together for all these four subjects are eligible. Final year Plus Two students whose results are likely to be declared by mid-July are also eligible. The prospectus-cum-application form can be obtained from the selected branches of State Bank of India by paying Rs.500 (SC/ST Rs. 400). Forms will be distributed from January 3 to February 17. Application forms can also be obtained by Speedpost/registered post by sending a written request with an account payee bank draft for Rs.550 (SC/ST Rs.450) payable to the Director, AIIMS, New Delhi.

The bank draft should be drawn on SBI, Service Branch (code No7687), New Delhi. The request for application should send before February 17 to the Assistant Controller of Examination, All-India Institute of Medical Sciences, Ansari Nagar, New Delhi - 110 029. The words "Request for application form for MBBS entrance examination - 2006" should be written on the envelope. Last date for receipt of completed application in AIIMS is February 24.

BHU entrance test

The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has invited applications for the MBBS course conducted by the Institute of Medical Sciences, Varanasi - 221 005. Admission is based on a national-level entrance test comprising two stages. First stage - PMT screening test shall be held on May10, 2006, in Varanasi, Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad. Those who qualify in the screening test will be eligible to take PMT main examination to be held on June 18 in Varanasi, which is the only centre.

Those who have passed intermediate/10+2/ equivalent examination with minimum of 50 per cent marks (SC / ST required 40 per cent) in English, physics, chemistry and biology taken together. Students appearing in qualifying examination 2006 may also apply .
