Girls just can't have fun?

Only modesty scores. The more daring of the lot are put in their place - by dirty looks and vulgar comments

WHO CARES? Girls' lib is all talk. If you laugh aloud you are stamped a Martian.

JBIET: Women are fantasised. Girls are typecast - fragile, gentle, delicate, and `action' less. Isn't this what ladies are?

This is `generation Z' and you feel I'm wrong in taking up a gender issue. Forget it chaps! Look around - let's see what's happening.

People still stare when a girl wears jeans. Girls are expected to be silent and modest. We prove our mettle on the hot wheels and stride our way through the skies - but still there is something missing, maybe `true identity' or maybe courage.

The ratio of girls to boys remains 1:3 or 1:4 in colleges and universities. The fear of raising your voice in a herd of men still stands tall. The dupatta has to stay pinned up on the shoulders - a fall from its position only creates embarrassment and dirty giggles. Women are everywhere - at home as mother or sister, as wife or niece, at office as boss or colleague - still women are not free. And the bondage starts right from school and college.

Secondary

Even teachers consider education as a `secondary option' for girls - Why?

Perhaps, because we are not yet bold - to get up and shout and to kick if necessary. When you are not heard - let not anyone else be heard.

Be dominant when being modest doesn't help. Slashing eyelashes and gentle smiles don't help women today - a daring attitude with loads of courage is a prerequisite to show that you exist - and you are to be recognised.
