Challenges just pour in

R. PRIYADARSHINI

The chain starts from the Class X public exams. It goes on till you get a plum job. After that if you have visions of taking a break... forget it.

AS COOL AS IT GETS: Some deal with challenges head on.

VASAVI COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING: It all started when mom said, "Give it your very best, because this is going to be the turning point of your life, and then you can relax....", when I was preparing for the tenth standard examinations. Then again in the second year of Intermediate, "Do it well...it's going to decide your future...". Finally, in final year of engineering, everything was repeated all over again, "This is what gets you settled for life ... try your best for the placements.... then you can enjoy a very happy time ahead..."

Our parents and teachers, have always been giving such advice and encouragement for our own good. We recognise it very late -- when we are already enjoying the fruits of our hard work which is the result of their encouragement and sacrifices. We have always loathed working hard if we have not been promised something we really crave for. But then, when we have actually started whatever we have to do, we like to make the best out of that.

All of us make a lot of friends at school, college, neighbourhood or wherever we go but friends we make at engineering college stand out. This is because we spend most of our time in these four years with them. Likes, dislikes, jealousies, infatuations, playing pranks, going out, studying together and sharing the worst and best of that youthful life - the first three years pass before you can blink.

Slogging is on

On the serious front, slogging for the semester exams, appreciation from teachers for our performance..... In fact, each moment is precious, thanks to the various celebrations organised at college. Then, the final year too passes with the much awaited campus recruitments. Now, friends, do you think we are going to take a break? Of course you will say "No", as by now we are quite accustomed to facing newer and bolder challenges. Well, as mom said, "Give it your best". After all life is giving the best shot at every opportunity.
