Spot selection speeds up US university admissions
G. RAVIKIRAN
Candidates aspiring to pursue higher education abroad spend anxious moments during the months that precede the confirmation of admissions. The process takes several months.A negative result will nearly send the aspirant into depression. Then it would be back to square one and another effort will have to be made to seek admission in another university. Months and years are wasted in this manner.
The students will be saved from this trying experience when foreign universities send their representatives to conduct spot interviews. This summer, the season has already begun for another round of such interviews.
Representatives from Oklahoma, Alabama, Detroit and other US universities personally visit the city and deliver talks to spread awareness on the courses and scholarships available at their respective universities.
This interface helps in providing first-hand information to local students.
Doubts over quality of courses and infrastructure in a particular university or a particular place in the US will also be cleared in this interaction.
The foreign representatives do not give any assurance to students about admission at the spot interviews.
All they do is attest the documents of a particular candidate, if he or she is found eligible. Once the attestation is given, there are strong chances for a student to get admission. Representatives cannot give admissions as it is up to the respective department of the US universities to give or refuse admission.
