NIPER sets the benchmark

A centre of excellence for advanced studies in pharmacology

Any field of study in the academic world has a centre of excellence for advanced studies. One such institute is the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) (www.niper.nic.in) located at Sector 67, SAS Nagar Mohali, Pin-160 062, Punjab. Having been declared an "Institute of National Importance", this autonomous body set up under the aegis of the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has helped the pharmacy field to grow by leaps and bounds.

Those involved in pharmaceutical research and the academic fraternity look up to NIPER for guidance and support.

The institute is recognised for its Master of Science (Pharmacy), M.Pharm, Master's in Technology (Pharmacology), Master in Business Administration (MBA) (Pharmaceutical Management) and Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.).

AIU member

Students from all over India study at NIPER which is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) (www.aiuweb.org) and the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) (www.acu.ac.uk) .

The institute offers M.S. programmes and Master's in Pharmacy in Medicinal Chemistry, Natural Products, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmaceutics Biotechnology and Pharmacology and Toxicology.

The eligibility is Bachelor in Pharmacy or M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry, Bachelor in Veterinary Science and MBBS.

Those with B.Pharma, M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry, M.Sc. in Life Sciences and B.Tech in Chemical Engineering can pursue Master's in Technology in Pharmaceutical Technology (Bulk Drugs) and Pharmaceutical Technology (Biotechnology) which would help in qualitative placements in the pharmaceutical industry.

Students who have an inclination for research can enrol for Ph.D. in Medical Chemistry, Pharmacology and Toxicology and benefit from being guided/supervised by individuals who have vast academic exposure and industry backing.

It is this USP of NIPER that attracts the best of talent from all over the country.

NIPER conducts entrance tests for the various programmes at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, New Delhi, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Nagpur and Pune.
