Preparing for GMAT, SAT
TWO BOOKS that help students prepare for the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) and the new Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) from Barron's are now available as special "pass key" editions published for the sub-continent, from New Age International Publishers.
Besides covering the test format and offering general preparation guidelines, the books provide some help to the student for on-the-feet decision-making in the examination hall. The GMAT book, for instance, includes guidance on how to avoid wasting time figuring out exact answers and to make intelligent guesses. This volume also explains the computer-adaptive nature of the test.
On the new SAT, the book discusses a seven-day plan and a 30-day plan of preparation with exercises. Both the two volumes are formatted as small paperbacks, aimed at encouraging the student to slip them into the backpack and even read them on a bus or train. The book on the GMAT costs Rs. 175 and the one on the new SAT, Rs. 145. Contact: New Age International Publishers, www.newagepublishers.com.
