Meet on `Environment and community'
A conference on `Environment and community' will be held at Stella Maris College, organised by the Department of Public Relations, on December 19 and 20.
This meet emerged out of a project undertaken by the college and supported by the United States Educational Foundation in India (USEFI) and Covenant Centre for Development (CCD), an NGO in Madurai, in September 2006. At the inaugural session on December 19, a U.S. Consulate official will present remarks on `Student and Community Involvement in Environmental issues: A U.S. Perspective'.

The conference, open to students of other institutions, will include discussion of community-based organisations and the environment, and faculty and students who participated in the project will share their experiences. Resource persons from NGOs in India and an educational institution in Singapore will share their expertise. There will be competitions for students on themes related to environment.
