`Lots of opportunities around'

Karpagam College of Engineering conducted `Descaro `07', a national technical symposium recently on the college premises. Jointly organised by the departments of Mechanical, EEE, ECE, CSE, IT, MCA and MBA, the symposium included events such as paper presentation, circuit debugging, quiz, coding contest and CAD contest. Nearly 600 participants from all over India took part.

The Department of Business Management of the SNR Sons College recently held the `Devoir 2007', an annual extravaganza. Jayakumar Ramadass, Chairman and MD of Mahendra Pumps spoke to the students about becoming good managers. He also told them that the world was full of opportunities as well as challenges.

NSS volunteers of Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College recently held a special camp at Kanuvaipalayam and Jothipuram villages for ten days. They conducted a socio-economic survey, held a demonstration on `First Aid', a free medical camp, a free eye camp, a veterinary camp and a dental camp. Free medicines and spectacles at concession prices were also distributed. Lectures on health and social awareness were delivered to the villagers.

Finance Club of Jansons School of Business, `Yield', released the inaugural issue of its newsletter `Yield Review' recently. S. Sriraman, General Partner of Quest India Fund handed over the first issue to N. Chandrasekaran, Director of Centre for Supply Chain and Logistics, LIBA, Chennai. The newsletter focussed on the trends on capital market studied by students of the Club.

A special lecture, `Perspectives in Venture Funding', followed the inauguration.

M. Aruchami Research Foundation of the Kongunadu Arts and Science College organised a special lecture, `The Relevance and Importance of Higher Education', on the college premises on the eve of its second anniversary. V. Chinnusamy, principal of Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidhyalaya College of Arts and Science honoured 28 college teachers on their successful completion of doctoral thesis.
