BPO comes to tap talent
S. Nagarajan
Nearly 400 final year students have already been selected. The firm is looking at recruiting another 500 to add to the earlier number, said S. Nagarajan, Founder and Chief People Officer of 24/7 Customer, the Bangalore-based global supplier of Business Process Outsourcing services. He was recently in Coimbatore to meet a select group of students along with their parents. "We have identified Coimbatore for recruiting since it has a large number of colleges," said Mr. Nagarajan. Another favourite recruiting haunt of the company was the North-East. "The area has a lot of educated and skilled people who have no job opportunities. We have been successfully tapping that end," he said. The company also had a programme called `Enable India', through which people with varied disabilities who had the required skills were recruited to work for it. The company employed about 7,000 professionals in Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad in India, and in the USA and the UK, and nine delivery centres in India, Philippines and Guatemala. The facilities ensured smooth handling of over eight million transactions per month. The students were selected based on their aptitude in the subject and also expertise in soft skills. The selected candidates would be placed in the domains of technical support, banking, financial sector, retail, logistics and entertainment, after a three-week training offered by the company at Coimbatore. The training centre representative Biji Prabhakar can be contacted at 26, Old Dhamu Nagar, Puliakulum, or on 98411-70152.
