New seminar hall inaugurated at Sri Venkateswara University

A new seminar hall was opened at Sri Venkateswara University’s Physics department last Thursday.

The hall was developed with funds to the tune of Rs.20 lakh provided by the UGC’s Department of Special Assistance (DSA).

Vice-chancellor S.Jayarama Reddy formally inaugurated the hall and the HoD’s chambers.

while the principal of SVU College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, B.C.Venkata Reddy, DSA co-ordinator Prof.Narasimha Rao and Physics head P.Narasimha Reddy were present.

Acharya Nagarjuna University has set in motion an ambitious programme to modernise class rooms on the campus as part of ‘Smart Classrooms’ programme.

University registrar K.V. Rao said that one class room in each department would be developed as a model class room from the academic year 2007-2008 with grants released under the UGC 10th plan.

They would be equipped with tiles and cushioned chairs.

The rooms would have a podium for the teachers, he added.

Contact classes

Contact classes for the Post-Graduate courses offered by Centre for Distance Education, Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University will commence from May 21.

Classes for first year M.A. (Telugu, Sanskrit and Jyothisham) will be conducted from May 21 to May 30 and second year classes, including M.C.J first year will be from May 31 to June 9.
