Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hosiptal, a Chennai-based eye care hospital, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Alagappa University, Karaikudi, to offer certificate, diploma, and degree courses in optometry. These courses will be conducted by Shri Prakash Institute of Optometry, a subsidiary of the hospital.
The MoU was signed by the university vice-chancellor Kanniappan and hospital chairman J. Agarwal. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kanniappan said the collaborative venture with the hospital was part of the extension programme of the university.
He appealed to the students to make the best use of the facility and expressed confidence that the courses would offer greater employment opportunities in the field of optometry and total eye care solutions.
Dr. Amar Agarwal of Agarwal Eye Hospital said the degree course would pave the way for turning out more optometrists to help eradicate blindness in the country.
