OU workshop deals with all about research University roundup

A three-day workshop on Research Methodology in Social Sciences and Humanities was organised by the University College of Arts & Social Sciences and ICSSR (SRC) with an idea to familiarise M.Phil and Ph.D. scholars with the latest in theory and techniques of research. More than 200 scholars from Osmania University, as well as other Universities participated in the workshop.

Vice-Chancellor Mohd. Suleman Siddiqui who inaugurated the workshop asked the research scholars to make use of such workshops to learn various skills pertaining to research and produce quality thesis. Eminent economist N. Krishnaji highlighted latest trends in Social Sciences and prevailing environment in the universities while P.L. Vishveshwar Rao Principal, University College of Arts & Social Sciences, outlined the topics and scope of the workshop.

There were 10 lectures spread over three days. K. Srinivasulu of Political Science spoke on “Theory building in Social Sciences”. Adapa Satyanarayana of History discussed various issues pertaining to “Identification of Research Problem” while Haragopal of Statistics made a presentation on Data Analysis and use of SPSS.

SPMVV admissions

Sri Padmavathi Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam (SPMVV) will conduct spot admissions on July 6 and 7 for P.G. courses (M.A/M.Sc) like Women’s studies, Applied sociology, Sericulture, Communication & Journalism, Music (Veena/Vocal) and Bharatanatyam and a U.G. course in B.L.I.Sc.

The Directorate of Admissions has informed the candidates appearing for admission to bring all the original certificates. More details can be had at 0877-228 4508 (Women’s studies), 228 4516 (Journalism) and 228 4526 (Sericulture).

Similarly, the varsity has extended the last date for admission to various courses up to July 13 due for the benefit of students from the cyclone-hit areas.

SVU

SV University has introduced a 10-day soft skills training session for improving the employability of its students by fine-tuning their personality.

The free training programme will be conducted on Saturday and Sunday every week starting July 20. 60 participants will be permitted in each of the ten courses and experts have been drawn to deal with the subjects.

Students can select any topic of their choice such as Career planning (self efficacy) skills, Leadership skills, Assertiveness skills, Inter-personal communication skills, Group communication skills, Comprehension skills, Effective writing skills, Creating writing skills, Decision making skills and Creative thinking skills. The sub-topics allowed are Life goals, SWOT analysis, Decision making, Conflict resolution, Negotiation, Conversation/Telephone talk, Group discussion, Technical presentation, Idea description, Letter writing, Advertisement copy making, Individual Vs Team decisions, Mind stretching, Brainstorming etc. C.S.G. Krishnamacharyulu, a professor of Business Management, has been made the programme convener, while R.Seshadri Naidu (Director, SVU Computer Centre) and M. Narendra, a professor of English, will act as the facilitator and coordinator of the courses respectively.

ANU counselling

Counselling for admission into P.G. Courses at the Acharya Nagarjuna University concluded on Thursday. University Vice-Chancellor V. Balmohandas said that colleges, in which seats fell vacant, could fill up them later. The counselling began on June 13 and came to an end on June 28.

M.Sc (Aqua) results

The results of M.Sc (Aqua Culture) second semester held in June this year have been announced, according to Controller of Examinations Nageswara Rao. The results are available in the University website www.acharyanagarjunauniversity. ac.in.The results of revaluation of first and third semester MCA examinations held by the Acharya Nagarjuna University have been released, according to Controller of Examinations Nageswara Rao. The results of M. Tech examinations held in June 2006 were also released, he added.

Quota for sportspersons

Sportspersons who have won gold medals will be allotted super-numary seats in admission into various PG Courses at the Acharya Nagarjuna University , said University Vice-Chancellor V. Balmohandas. Students could get admitted at Campus College, Ongole and Nuzivid campuses. Selected students would get a fee waiver of 50 per cent. For details contact-P.G Admissions director 94402-58822.

LLM entrance test

Following a directive from Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education, the Acharya Nagarjuna University decided to stop the admissions for Master of Law ( LLM) The APSCHE would conduct entrance test and online counseling for admission into the course.
