A little more hard work pays
MADHULIKA MITRA
Kendriya Vidyalaya Picket: Call your parents? When the teacher ordered I thought it was yet another bout of scolding for me. And also one more round of comparison with some of my classmates. As expected, when they arrived, the lesson
of comparison started. “See that girl, she is so brilliant. You can learn something from your friend,” the suggestion came as expected in front of my parents.
But do comparisons help? Do they help the children score better? Definitely not.
In fact, they leave the children lonely and low. I always felt that school was my first home and my teachers were more understanding but unfortunately the school did not value me when I failed.
In fact, those comments of my teachers literally made me more disappointed. And the result was that I performed much more badly in the next examinations. I was totally heartbroken and felt was I always so bad and inferior to my so called competitors. My close friend’s words worked like magic.
Those getting ranks are not angels but they were just working much harder than you.
They don’t bunk classes neither do they discuss their crushes in the classrooms at the cost of their studies. Was it determination to overcome some small problems and prove my teachers wrong? When the answer was in affirmative, I decided to put it my sincere efforts. The result was shocking. No, I did not top the class but I got decent scores and a much better rank. So guys, it’s not that you don’t have brains. If ever you lack something it is hard work and determination to achieve.
