Mastering case-study analysis

The event was designed to promote innovative and intuitive leadership

With the world moving at a swift pace with technological advances and varied challenges in corporate management, ideas become obsolete in no time. Here is where the challenge of a good manager lies. For a manager, problem-solving is an important area of concern. The better one is at solving problems, the higher are one’s chances of succeeding in competitive scenario.

Preparing the students for such challenges becomes important for B-schools and the Bharathidasan Institute of Management did that by exposing its students to a situation of mastering the skill of case study analysis by conducting ‘KSHAN’ recently.

The case study analysis event was designed to promote the innovative and intuitive leadership, and managerial acumen of the budding young talents. The event took off with 22 teams ( of four members each ) competing in a preliminary round, which witnessed teams matching their wits against each other as they were required to go through a variety of questions (business quiz, general awareness, and logic). The top 10 scoring teams qualified for the finals. The final round had a set of brief cases covering a whole range of topics from finance, marketing, systems and current affairs. This was keeping in sync with the BIM’s motto of providing ‘Value Based Education’.

The cases were unique and at the same time brain-teasing asking for out-of-the-box solutions for the problems. The students had to put forth their views, solutions and strategies, based on their understanding of the case. It also conducted a national-level online quiz ‘ENIGMA’ in association with BIMQuest and PRCOM.
