IGNOU signs memorandum of understanding with ISRO
Indira Gandhi National Open University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Indian Space Research Organisation for instituting an ISRO Chair on the campus.The Chair will undertake educational activities and research in the area of satellite communication.
The MoU was signed early this week between ISRO Chairman G. Madhavan Nair and IGNOU Vice-Chancellor V. N. Rajasekharan Pillai.
The Chair will identify technological gaps between the needs of the users of satellite media for education. Through this chair, ISRO and IGNOU will develop suitable curriculum in the areas of operation and maintenance of satellite communication ground systems.
Conducting surveys
The Chair will conduct survey among users and develop suitable training modules in related areas. It will also conduct training workshops, organise seminars for the personnel in educational institutions for updating their skills in operation and maintenance of satellite communication areas, said a University release.
The tenure of the chair would be for a period of three years, further extendable for as many years.
The Chair will function from the Electronic Media Production Centre at IGNOU.
