JMET on December 9

The Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET) 2008 for entry into the six IIT Business Schools and IISc Bangalore’s Department of Management Studies will be conducted on December 9.

This written management entrance examination is being conducted by IIT-Kharagpur.

JMET-2008 will be of two hours’ duration and the test will have 150 questions consisting objective as well as multiple choice-type questions in verbal communication, logical reasoning, quantitative ability and data interpretation areas. JMET is only a short-listing test and the results provide a basis to each participating institute to short-list potential candidates for conducting its own selection process like group discussion or interview or both.

However, the admission process of each institute varies and they form their own procedures for selection of the candidate.

The pre-requisite for taking the JMET is a bachelor’s degree in any branch of Engineering or a master’s degree in Sciences, Agriculture, Commerce or Economics.

Schools

The schools that use JMET scores are: IIT-Bombay (Shailesh J Mehta School of Management), IIT-Delhi (Department of Management Studies), IIT-Kanpur (Department of industrial & Management Engineering), IIT-Kharagpur (Vinod Gupta School of Management), IIT-Madras (Department of Management Studies), IIT-Roorkee (Department of Management Studies) and IISc Bangalore (Department of Management Studies).
