Academic year begins at SVET

Students advised to practice the art of converting challenges into opportunities



Making a point: S. Rame Gowda, former Chairman of All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) with M.Mohan Babu, film actor and chairman of Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust, at the inauguration of B.Tech, MCA and MBA programmes, on the SVET campus in Tirupati.

Academic year 2007-08 began at Sri Vidyanikethan Engineering College, Tirupati, with a big bang and amid jubilation last week.

Former Chairman of All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), S.Rame Gowda, inaugurated B.Tech, MCA and MBA courses for the academic year at an interaction programme arranged on its A. Rangampet premises with fresher-students and their parents.

In his chief guest address, Prof. Gowda advised students to get equipped with the knowledge and skills required to make it big in the job market by practising the art of converting challenges into opportunities.

Seeing a great future for the present generation students of the country, he envisaged them as the growth propellers of tomorrow’s super power nation.

With a total intake of 1,044 students a year, the JNTU-affiliated college offers 8 Under-Graduate and 4 Post-Graduate programmes, which makes it the largest in Rayalaseema and second largest in Andhra Pradesh.

The National Board of Accreditation (NBA) recognied four branches for three years and EEE for five years, which again is a rare feather in its cap.

The founder of the educational group and film actor, Padmasri M.Mohan Babu assured the students and parents of quality education.

M.Vishnuvardhan Babu, Director and T.Gopala Rao, Special Officer, spoke on campus interviews, wherein they referred to the placement provided to 80 p.c. of the qualified students.

The college has also started a Language Communication Laboratory and appointed six specialists, who have prepared a training module in soft skills for the benefit of the rural students.

Film director of ‘Chandramukhi’ fame, P.Vasu, was an added attraction at the event.
