Easier route for study abroad

If you are looking for a stint abroad, the land Down Under comes calling. And, of course, with attractive scholarships.

At a recent seminar in Tiruchi on ‘Education and immigration opportunities in Australia and New Zealand,’ Robert Dilinger of Dilinger Consultants discussed ways to gain an international degree. About 80 per cent of the students who apply f or Australian universities, according to Mr. Dilinger, opt for postgraduation and higher studies.

Finance

Financial requirement is no more a deterrent to parents for sending their wards to foreign universities. Unlike institutions in the U.S., Australian universities do not require documents for liquid assets at the time of applying for visa.

Banks are also opening up to offer attractive loans for the students who merely show admission letters from the universities. The sponsors for the students could be anyone and not necessarily persons from their own families.

The consultants gather necessary documents from the students and represent them at the Australian embassy. “Visa has never been a problem and Australia is quite liberal with visa procedures,” he assured the students who attended the seminar.

Misconception

Scotching the misconception that the IELTS score is a requirement of every university, Mr. Dilinger said the score is only mandatory to gain a student visa and has nothing to do with admission.

Being scarcely populated, Australia and New Zealand are open to permanent migrants, which help the Indian students to acquire Permanent Residence status after the studies. Spot admission events and education-in-abroad seminars would help them learn more about the procedures. Twenty students from Tiruchi have secured admissions in Australia and New Zealand through Dilinger Consultants so far, he said.
