Study circle to focus on job-oriented courses

Candidates being trained in short-term job-guaranteed and market-driven courses this year

In tune with the changing needs of the educated youth from poor families the Andhra Pradesh Study Circle for Backward Classes has taken to shifting its priorities from offering coaching/training for long-term competitive examinations for education and employment to purely employment-guaranteed short-term training.

For the first time the Study Circles across the State have offered training in short-term employment-guaranteed and market-driven courses this year.

Medical transcription

Six-month medical transcription course was taken up about a month ago in Anantapur branch with an intake of 60 students screened through a written and oral test for Intermediate BiPC or any degree as basic qualification.

The first batch of the employment-guaranteed training in the Study Circle would be given initial four months training in Anantapur and the remaining two months in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam.

The last two months training would be stipendiary job training, wherein the placement agency would ensure training while working.

Tie-up

Director of the Study Circle, Anantapur, M. Jayaraj said they had entered into a tie-up with Delphi Solutions and they would provide training here and later ensure placement for the students.

The State government would pay Rs. 16,400 per student to the agency to provide job-oriented training as well as guaranteed employment upon completion of the training.

Confident lot

“Though we are facing some problems in communication the training is intensive and the assurance that we land up in a job soon after completing the course gives us immense confidence,” the first batch students of medical transcription course said.

Communication skills

Along with the course training the students would also be imparted communication skills in English during the initial four months.

The Study Circle would also offer other short-term job-guaranteed training courses in computer animation and call centre job soon, Mr. Jayaraj stated.

“This kind of training not only helps the youth get guaranteed employment but it will also give us (the administration) a lot of satisfaction of helping the needy with an assurance,” the Director said.

Of the 2,796 students trained in the Study Circle here since its inception in 1994 for different competitive examinations for employment and education, 1,136 were qualified for final selections.
