PG diploma in management
JSS Mahavidyapeeta, Mysore, has introduced a two-year full-time post-graduate diploma in management (PGDM) owing to demand for courses in management education. The JSS Centre for Management Studies (JSSCMS), which runs management courses, had received approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for running the PGDM. It introduced a two-year full-time MBA course, affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), in 1998.
The PGDM has been designed to meet the demands of the changing economic conditions. Teachers with topical pedagogical skills are now included with the existing team of management teachers, to impart management education, according to JSSCMS.
While the VTU-affiliated MBA programme has an annual intake of 120 seats, the PGDM will have an intake of 60 seats. Admission to the MBA programme is based on PGCET and MAT score, while the admission to PGDM is based on the MAT score.
Wide choice
Like the MBA, the students of PGDM will have a wide choice of specialisation streams that include finance, marketing, HR, banking, international business, retail, health care, operations and strategy management. In addition, JSSCMS offers research opportunities and currently four students have registered for their doctoral programme.
The management institute located on the sprawling JSS Technical Institute campus is equipped with the state-of-the-art facilities such as wi-fi multimedia classrooms, labs, well-stocked library, amphitheatre and conference hall.
With the demand for people specialised in health care management increasing owing to rising number of hi-tech and multi-speciality hospitals, the JSSCMS has introduced a one-year post-graduate diploma in health care management (PGDHCM) which is delivered via e-learning mode.
The course is currently offered from Mysore and the JSS International Education Foundation at Dubai. It is affiliated to VTU and offers all graduates, especially graduates from medical, dental and allied sciences, a chance to acquire a post-graduate management diploma that offers the convenience of any time, any place and any pace learning.
