There is a deluge of engineering colleges in the State with the number crossing 300 and many more in the pipeline for the next academic year. On one hand engineering education has come within the reach of the average student while on the other students who can’t even score 25 per cent in the entrance are offered seats on the platter.

Industry says not even 10 per cent of engineers coming out of majority colleges are actually employable. Where is this trend taking engineering education to? What are the solutions?

Have your say on the issue. Your response, not exceeding 250 words may be emailed to collegian@thehindu.co.in or by post to Education Plus, The Hindu, Begumpet, Hyderabad-16. The responses along with your photograph, digital or hard copy, should reach us by March 28.
