Apogee fest
Dayananda Sagar Junior Business School recently hosted “Apogee-‘08”, its first management fest. Students from over 40 business schools participated in the fest, which quizzed them about the trends in the industry. Several competitions had been organised including extempore, case analysis, War of the Business Lords, and stress interviews. Monil Nisar and Adarsh B. from two different B-schools in Bangalore were declared first and second runners-up of the competitions.
MoU signed
ICFAI University entered into a memorandum of understanding with the State of South Australia recently. The Premier of South Australia Mike Rann and chairman of the university Subhash Sarnikar signed the MoU. Anna Ciccarelli and Andrew Parfitt, Pro Vice-Chancellors of the University of South Australia, were part of the Australian delegation that came to India.
The MoU is a formal invitation extended to ICFAI to set up a campus in Adelaide, capital of South Australia. Initially, the university plans to offer post-graduate management programmes. A unique feature of the agreement is the possibility for the university to tie up with existing State Universities in South Australia to offer “dual” degrees. The student will spend a year at the ICFAI University campus in Adelaide and the second year at an existing university in South Australia. The student gets degrees or diplomas from both institutions.
Working lab
iProdigy, one of India’s leading thought management and leadership facilitators, will be holding a working lab on Excellence in Learning Leadership from April 4 to 6 at Fire Flies, off Kanakapura Road, Bangalore. This lab will be useful for aspiring and practising trainers and managers. The lab will be conducted by trainer and corporate mentor Indraneel Mukerjee. Management fest
Kristu Jayanti College, Department of MBA, conducted a two-day national-level inter-collegiate management fest “SYNECTICS 2008. The fest was said to be one of the biggest of its kind in the city with participation from more than 25 colleges from across the country. More than 500 students competed in events such as Best Managers, Finance, Business Quiz, System Analysis, Marketing, HR and Business Plan.
Cocktail-making competition
Mitali Chakravarthy, student of M.S. Ramaiah College of Hotel Management, won the inter-collegiate cocktail making competition. She displayed the edge required in working and presenting cocktails and established a link between classic and modern bartending. She named her prize winning creation “Femme Libre,” which she later dedicated to “all women achievers of the world.”
City medico wins gold medal
B.S. Balaji, a post-graduate student of general surgery at Bangalore Baptist Hospital, has bagged the gold medal in the examination conducted by the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi, a wing of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The gold medal was presented by Anbumani Ramadoss, Union Minister for Health, at the 14th convocation of the NBE held at Bangalore recently.
MoU signed
Wipro has signed a MoU with Vellore Institute of Technology University. The MoU envisages faculty development programmes, technical sponsorships and student workshops.
Pradeep Bahirwani, Vice President-Strategic Resourcing, Wipro, said, “The objective of this MoU is to build industry-academia relationship and empower students to gear up for the challenges of the corporate world.”
