A synchronized annual day festival

Sharing views: Union Minister of State for HRD D. Purandeswari talking to film actor and chairman of Sree Vidyanikethan group M. Mohan Babu at its annual day celebrations in Tirupati.

Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Institutions celebrated its annual day in the form of an ebullient and colourful event on Mar 19. The event synchronized with the birthday of the group founder Chairman Padma Shri M.Mohan Babu, film actor and formerly Member of Rajya Sabha.

Minister of State for Human Resource Development D. Purandareswari, who took part as the chief guest, complimented Dr.Mohan Babu for establishing a modern educational group in a backward region to serve the cause of the socially underprivileged. In her address to the impressive gathering of students, parents and invitees, she urged the students to uphold the rich traditions, culture and values of Indian heritage besides acquiring skills to face challenges in life. She emphasized the need for a form of education that came with values and noble character. “Education is not merely acquisition of knowledge, but building a wholesome personality,” she said and underscored the need to love and serve the motherland.

Mr.Mohan Babu in turn heaped laurels on Ms.Purandareswari for making it to the Parliament with her consistent efforts. Lok Satta Party national convener N. Jayaprakash Narayan advised the students to contribute their mite and rid the society of social evils like corruption and apathy towards the poor. S. Rame Gowda, formerly chairman of AICTE, prevailed upon the students to make the best use of the facilities available in the institution and hone their skills and competencies to achieve their goals and objectives.

SV University Vice-Chancellor C. Ratnam and director of the TTD’s Balaji Institute of Surgery, Research and Rehabilitation for the Disabled (BIRRD Hospital) G. Jagadish explained the art of making it big in life.

Regional Passport Officer B.Bala Bhaskar, a software entrepreueur Krishna Giri, Managing Director of TV5 Media Bollineni Rajagopal Naidu, an industrialist M.V. Chowdary, noted Ghazal singer Srinivas and a host of glitterati enlivened the academic mood by sharing their experiences and hurling lively anecdotes on the audience. 21 gold medals were presented to meritorious students who secured the highest marks in various branches of engineering and sciences.

The cultural events presented on the occasion sent the audience into rapture.

Management fest

The management and cultural festival, Splash ’08 organised by Department of Business Management, Badruka College P.G. centre, saw over 1500 students from 35 colleges participating in the fest. A lot of cash prizes were given away during the fest which had formal and informal events. The Young Manager award was bagged by Mohammed Abdul Aleem from Matrusri College of Management and Crown of Colleges was given to Pragathi Sahi and Srikar Reddy from Hyderabad Central University for bagging the maximum number of prizes at the event.

The event was wrapped up with a valedictory function that was attended by Chief Guest, Viraj Malhan, vice president, Global Employer Services, Delloitte, Guest of Honour, N.T. Vedachalam, former director, Badruka College Post Graduate Centre and Professor. Pannalal, Director, Badruka College Post Graduate Centre.
