B.Sc. nursing
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, has invited applications for entrance examinations for admission to various courses starting in August.
The institute admits only women to the four-year B.Sc. (Hons) nursing course, which has 50 seats. The applicants should have passed Plus Two, or equivalent examinations, with physics, chemistry, biology and English, securing not less than 55 per cent marks (50 per cent for Scheduled Caste, SC, and Scheduled Tribe, ST, candidates) in aggregate in these subjects. The entrance examination will be held in Thiruvananthapuram and Delhi on June 22.
The three-year B.Sc. (Hons) paramedical courses are offered in ophthalmic techniques (12 seats) and medical technology in radiography (6). The minimum qualification is pass in Plus Two, or equivalent examinations, with English, physics, chemistry and biology or mathematics with not less than 50 per cent marks (45 per cent for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate. The entrance test will be held in Delhi on June 8.
The two-year M.Sc. nursing course has 14 seats and offers specialisations in cardiological/CTVS nursing, oncological nursing, neurosciences nursing, nephrological nursing, critical-care nursing, paediatrics nursing and psychiatric nursing. The qualification required is B.Sc. (Hons) nursing or B.Sc. nursing with at least 60 per cent marks (55 per cent for SC/ST candidates) and registration as nurse and midwife with any State nursing council. The entrance test will be held in Delhi on June 14.
The two-year M.Sc. courses in anatomy, biochemistry, biophysics, physiology and pharmacology have three seats each and perfusion technology and nuclear medicine technology, four each.
For the anatomy, biochemistry, biophysics, pharmacology and physiology courses, the minimum qualification required is MBBS or BDS with at least 55 marks (50 per cent for SC/ST candidates) or B.V.Sc., B.Pharm. or B.Sc. with 60 per cent marks (55 per cent for SC/ST candidates) in the relevant discipline. For the perfusion technology course, B.Sc. with biology or perfusion technology with at least 60 per cent marks (55 per cent for SC/ST candidates) is required. For the nuclear medicine technology course, the minimum qualification required is B.Sc. in nuclear medicine, physics, chemistry, mathematics, allied related subjects such as radiodiagnosis or radiotherapy or life sciences with physics as a main subject with 60 per cent marks (55 per cent for SC/ST candidates). The entrance test in Delhi is on July 6.
For the two-year M.Bio Tech course with 10 seats, the minimum qualification required is MBBS or BDS with 55 per cent marks (50 per cent for SC/ST candidates) or B.Sc. or B.Pharm. with 60 per cent marks (55 per cent for SC/ST candidates).
The entrance test will be held in Delhi on July 12.
Those who are appearing, or have appeared, for the final year qualifying examination in 2008 and whose results are likely to be declared before July 1 can also apply for the B.Sc. (Hons) nursing and paramedical courses. Their age should be 17 as on December 31, 2008.
There is a common prospectus-cum-application-form for all the courses. Only one application need be submitted for the two paramedical courses. It can be obtained by registered/Speed Post by sending a written request to the Assistant Controller of Examination, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi – 110 608 so as to reach the addressee on or before April 25.
Enclose a crossed bank draft for Rs. 550 (Rs. 450 for SC/ST candidates) in favour of M.Sc./B.Sc. Entrance Examination 2008 payable at New Delhi.
The cover should be super-scribed “Request for Prospectus-Cum-Application for M.Sc./B.Sc. Course – 2008.”

NIMHANS entrance
The National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) (deemed university), Bangalore – 560 029, has invited applications for an entrance examination to be held on June 29 in Bangalore for admission to its four-year B.Sc. nursing course with 75 seats. The minimum qualification required is pass in Plus Two or equivalent examinations with physics, chemistry, biology and English with 50 per cent marks in aggregate.

NSD entrance
The National School of Drama, New Delhi, has invited applications for admission to its three-year full-time residential diploma in dramatic arts starting in July.
Graduates in any subject from a recognised university who have participated in at least six productions and with a working knowledge of Hindi and English may apply.
As on July 1, they should be aged 20 to 30, the upper limit relaxed by five years for SC/ ST candidates.
A preliminary selection test will be conducted at Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Mumbai and Guwahati and those qualifying in this will have to attend a workshop of four or five days on the school premises for the final selection.
Selected students will be given a monthly scholarship of Rs. 3,000.
