Integrated course

In a pioneering move, the Bangalore University has started an innovative five-year integrated M.Sc. course in Biological Sciences for the students who have passed second PUC or 12th Standard. Biological Sciences is one of the thrust areas of the 21st Century.

It is essentially a subject which employs the study of biological organisms for the understanding of basic functions in the life processes that in turn facilitate the objective of benefiting mankind.

The purpose of the course is primarily to prepare the students with in-depth integrated knowledge of various branches of biology together with applications using modern tools and techniques.

In addition to theory and laboratory classes, the students will have research projects supervised by the faculty that will prepare them for training and research-level careers in bio-industries, Government and academia.

The unique feature of the course is that it provides advanced understanding of genomics and proteomics through study of structure and function at cell organelle and organism level, ecology, genetics, systems biology, biomedical science and bio-engineering.
