LL.B. entrance test

The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations has invited applications for the June 29 entrance examination for admission to the five-year LL.B. course.

Eighty seats each are on offer at the government law colleges at Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kozhikode.

Indian citizens of Kerala origin who have passed Plus Two or equivalent examinations with a minimum 40 per cent marks (candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes require 35 per cent marks) may apply.

Those who have appeared for the qualifying examinations this year may also apply.

The applicants should be aged at least 17 as on December 31, 2008.

The examination centres are Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kozhikode. The three-hour examination will have 200 multiple-choice questions from general knowledge, English and aptitude for legal studies.

Application forms and prospectus can be downloaded from www.cee-kerala.org. Candidates in the general category and those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes have separate forms.

The filled applications should be sent by registered post or delivered in person to the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Housing Board Buildings, 5th Floor, Santhinagar, Thiruvananthapuram – 695 001.

Enclose a demand draft for Rs. 600 (Rs. 300 for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) drawn in favour of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations payable at Thiruvananthapuram and other documents.

The applications will be accepted till June 2.

M.Sc. nursing

Applications have been invited for the June 14 entrance examination for admission to the M.Sc. nursing course in the nursing colleges at Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam and Kozhikode. The specialties are medical surgical nursing; community health nursing; child health nursing; obstetrics and gynaecology nursing; and mental health nursing.

Indian citizens of Kerala origin with B.Sc. nursing or equivalent degrees may apply. Applicants should have a year’s experience in a hospital with an average strength of 100 inpatients or in a school of nursing or community health nursing programme after registration with the State Nursing Council.

The examination centre is Thiruvananthapuram.

The three-hour examination will have 200 multiple-choice questions.

Applications forms are different for general and service categories and those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The format of the application form and prospectus will be available on the website www.cee-kerala.org.

The filled applications should be sent to the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Housing Board Buildings, 5th Floor, Santhinagar, Thiruvananthapuram- 695001, by registered post so as to reach the addressee on or before May 24. Enclose a demand draft for Rs. 800 (Rs. 400 for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) drawn in favour of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, payable at Thiruvananthapuram.

Postgraduate Ayurveda courses

Applications have been invited for the June 22 entrance examination for admission to postgraduate degree courses in Ayurveda in the government Ayurveda colleges at Thiruvananthapuram, Thripunithura and Kannur and the VPSV Ayurveda College, Kottakkal. The specialties are Kayachikitsa; Salakyathantra; Rasasastra; Bhaishajyakalpana; Dravyaguna Vijnanam; Swasthawritha; Prasoothithantra and Streeroga; Ayurveda Sishantha and Darsang (basic principles); Panchakarma; Kaumarabhrithya; Salyathantra; Manasika; Agadathantra; Kriyasareera; and Rogauidanam.

Indian citizens with BAMS or equivalent degrees with 50 per cent marks each in theory and practicals in each subject may apply.

Age limit

They should be not be aged above 45 years as on January 1, 2008. The age limit is relaxed by five years for students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

Thiruvananthapuram is the test centre. The examination will consist of two papers, each of two-hour duration and 150 objective-type multiple-choice questions.

Rural university entrance test

The Gandhigram Rural University has invited applications for admission to various courses.

The undergraduate programmes are B.Sc. mathematics, physics, chemistry and food science and nutrition; BA Gandhian social work; BBA rural industries and management; and B.Com. cooperation.

The postgraduate courses are MA sociology, Tamil and Indian literature, Hindi, human resource and conflict management, English and communicative studies and development administration; and M.Sc. physics, chemistry, botany, zoology, mathematics, food science and nutrition, extension and community development, microbiology, dairy science, geo informatics, medicinal plants and information technology.

Innovative programmes

The innovative programmes of the University Grants Commission are MA comparative literature and cultural studies and government and development; MBA small business management, cooperative management, rural industries management and rural project management; MCA; postgraduate diploma courses in spatial technology, sustainable development, educational technology and action research, sanitary inspector, seed production technology, organic farming and herbal processing drug design and development; B.Ed. integrated; and M.Phil. micro-level planning, research and development, development sociology, English and communicative studies, futurology, Tamil, chemistry and mathematics.
