What is the scope for speech therapy?
Institutes like Sweekar Upkaar, Thakur Hariprasad Institute in Hyderabad offer B.Sc courses in speech therapy, audiology and others. There is tremendous opportunity for these courses with immediate recruitment.
What is the future for homeopathy? Is it better in Andhra Pradesh or in other States?
There are a lot of vacancies for homeopathy doctors in the government. The government’s policies help homeopathy and there are quite a few openings even in the different towns too.
What are the top pharmacy colleges in AP?
There are 225 colleges in the State. Only 32 colleges are recognised by the Pharmacy Council of India. Pharmacy council gives recognition to colleges only after four years. To select good colleges, one should not just look at infrastructure and facilities but also faculty. A good faculty is very important for this course, even though they are recognised by the Pharmacy council of India.
What is the difference between B. Pharma and Pharma D? Also is Padmavathi college a deemed one or is it under government?
It is under the government. The B. Pharmacy course has three levels. First level is Diploma in pharmacy and focuses on community pharmacy. Second level is industrial pharmacy. The six year Pharm D course has not yet started. Pharma D will commence this year as it was approved by the Central government. In Hyderabad there are only 10 colleges for B.Pharm. To be eligible to admit students for Pharma D the colleges should house hospitals too. The college will be allowed to admit 30 students. Within a month, the names of eligible colleges will be announced.
What is the procedure to enter physiotherapy and scope for physiotherapy? What does it basically deal with?
The duration of the course is 4 years. It deals with a few medical subjects apart from other physiotherapy courses. It needs to be attached with a good trauma centre and in hospitals where post operative care is available. A physiotherapist’s role is very important on a long term duration. The demand for this course is increasing. Any medical centre, hospital needs a physiotherapist. Abroad also there is good scope for physiotherapy. It is a time bound job. From this year onwards the government plans to conduct a common counselling for all the streams. There are 38 physiotherapy colleges and 1800 seats available.
Can we take up research study after completing BDS?
Yes. There are few research centres like Indira Gandhi research centre at New Delhi and there are research centres abroad which encourage research study. For admissions one has to take entrance test conducted by the respective centres. There are no private research centres.
Between B.Phram and B.tech Bio-technology which is better?
Pharmacy is good since there is lot of demand for pharmacists than bio-technologists. But after ten years, Bio-technology will have good prospects. Meanwhile, B. pharm students can pursue M. Pharm (Bio-technology) as specialization.
After B.Tech bio-technology what next?
Students can pursue masters abroad, if not there are good prospects in bio-infomatics or intellectual property rights. Students can take up research study both in the country or abroad. There are about 20 colleges offering Bio-technology in the State.
Is there is good scope for veterinary?
Students have a wrong notion that after veterinary that they have to work in villages but it is not so. They can practice in cities and district headquarters. There are many government and private jobs. Even girls can study veterinary since they can work in diary and other industries in cities.
Does BDS good prospects abroad than in the country?
It is not like that there are good opportunities in the country. It all depends how a doctor practices or students can pursue masters in dentistry. For girls, after completing MDS there are good opportunities to work as professors in colleges.
Which is more preferable B.Pharm or Pharm D?
If you want to go abroad, Pharm D is preferable. If you do B.Pharm you will have to go and do masters abroad, but you cannot work as a community pharmacist.
What are the subjects in biotechnology?
Subjects of life sciences, immunology, chemical subjects, lot of engineering subjects including electronics and subjects of industrial processing are taught in Btech Biotechnology.
How are the campus placements for B.tech Biotechnology?
Placements in service sector like Intellectual property rights but in manufacturing sector the placements is limited.
Whether a reserved candidate can attend the counselling under the open category?
It is very difficult to say whether a student will get through MBBS or BDS.
What are the prospects of students who want to pursue education abroad like in China?
If institutes are offering ‘MCI approved syllabus’ it means that the syllabus taught in a Russian university or Chinese University is approved by the MCI and not the institute. Students have to clear an exam conducted by MCI to practice in India. It is very important to find out the medium of instruction. There should be an emphasis on the language of instruction. The English spoken by a Chinese teacher is very difficult. Medicine is learnt on bedside and if the patient is speaking in Chinese it will be very difficult for Indian students. Russian universities are insisting that foreign students learn their language. The students have to pass the exam conducted by MCI.
Can Bipc students take up B.tech biotech engineering?
Students have to take a bridge course in maths to pursue this course.
Which is better BDS or Pharmacy?
It depends on the individual. Both are the areas are good. After BDS one has to do own practice but if one studies pharmacy there are jobs. After BDS one has to do MDS to make a good career.
