Learn about IATA programmes, which are internationally recognised and offer a range of study options related to the travel profession.
Many options: The travel sector needs the services of people with a range of skills and knowledge. IATA courses cater to this need.
Last week we had given an overview of the travel profession and had mentioned the advantage of securing International Air Transport Association (IATA) certificates.
The IATA certificates are honoured by all the airlines and travel offices throughout the world. There is a wide variety of IATA programmes.
IATA is a global trade organisation, with its head office at Montreal, Canada. It provides standards and recommended practices for airline operations. It represents nearly 230 airlines comprising 93 per cent of scheduled international air traffic. One of its several functions is training.
IATA offers several internationally recognised training programmes for all levels of airline management and operations, leading to different diplomas. Airline operations; safety; marketing; strategic management; fuel efficiency; accounting; and passenger fares and ticketing are some of the areas of training.
