BIM’s online quiz a big success
An exposure to industry provides the much desired insight into the future for students. And competing with seasoned professionals on an equal footing even while studying, spurs their confidence to greater levels.
This was quite evident in the outcome of Pradhi Yudh (War of Talents), an online quiz event for corporates and B-Schools conducted by the Bharathidasan Institute Management (BIM) that elicited an overwhelming participation by nearly
500 teams from across the country.
The honours were shared in equal proportion by student teams and professionals in the event that BIM conducted recently to commemorate its 25 years of existence as a premier B-School established by Bharathidasan University in collaboration with BHEL, Tiruchi.
Major participation was from the B-Schools which were represented by the likes of Indian Institute of Managements (IIMs), XLRI Jamshedpur, IITs, FMS Delhi, IIFT Delhi, MDI Gurgaon etc.
Also, there was active participation from the corporates like Deutsche bank, Citibank, TCS, Ford, Infosys, Irevna, Deloitte etc. Entries from the likes of University of Wales provided an international perspective to the event. With more than Rs.25000 at stake, the competition was intense. “The toughest yet most innovative quiz, I ever attended. It made me rationalise and think practically”, a participant observed.
The honours were evenly split between corporates and B-Schools. Varun Reddy Sevva & Debratna Nag of IIM Lucknow and Swapnil Marothi and Anushka Kiran of IFMR took the accolades for General and Stock Market Quiz respectively. Vinod Ganesh and Vikram Vasu of Irevna and Jayakanthan of TCS prevailed over the rest in Sports and Business Quiz respectively. Teams from IIT Delhi, XIMB, NITIE, SIMSREE, CTS, Citibank and TCS came in a close second and third. “We had to make tough decisions with the difference between the First Place and Second Place being just a mark,” said one of the organisers on the intensity of the competition. The event highlighted the qualities like smart work, practical knowledge, passion, and, of course, the hunger to win.
