Fighting examination stress

N.L. RAO

SRR and CVR Government College: The main reason for stress during examinations is lack of preparation from the beginning of the academic year.

Studies are taken easy and students are seen making last ditch attempts to make the most of available little time to do well in the examinations.

If enough care is taken throughout the year, one need not worry at all for the final test of their academic efforts. Time and again, this is message is given to young ones.

But only a few seem to be following dutifully in their own interests and are seen enjoying the fruits that ensue.

Such good efforts will never go waste. It is often said that if we listen carefully to lectures in the classroom, half the study is done. A little memorisation afterwards will help keep the knowledge of that particular subject forever in our minds.

It is time we have to concentrate on providing best inputs to one and all.

We have to gather all our resources and work towards reaching a point of excellence. Together, we have to do this. For this, sufficient efforts are to be made by carrying along everybody including slow learners with us.

Teaching by itself is not the end of education, but the students have to reap the benefits. Not just a few, everybody in society should be allowed to take advantage of this opportunity.

There is a need for providing tips to every student on how to go about studying course material and prepare for the examinations with some clarity in mind.

We will succeed easily in our academic endeavours the moment we pursue the studies in a scientific and organised fashion.

Every student will be able to show some promise and hope, if he or she is in the know of how to imbibe knowledge in a systematic manner.

In my view, even those who show least promise of passing examinations can reverse it by making sincere efforts with the guidance of other students. It is just a matter of confidence and determination for such students, while those wanting top grades should take care not to get bogged down due to stress.
