Spotlight on robots at kurukshetra'09
The annual international level techno-
management festival, Kurukshetra,
organised by the students of
College of Engineering (CEG), Anna
University, is here.
CEG and Vestas India will organise
Kuruksehtra-09, a myriad of events
from January 21 to 24, 2009, with a
range of events, contests, lots of prize
money and other exciting prizes.
Robotics, as has been in previous editions,
will be in the spotlight in this
edition of Kurukshetra, too. The robotics
event has a nationwide prelims
`XCEED', which is to be held at all major
cities across the country. The first
phase of XCEED with three daunting
tasks namely the Line Tracer, Robot
Soccer and Contraptions begins on January
10 at IIT, Pune and January 12 at
RV College of Engineering, Bangalore.
Robotics has competitions designed
to individually test efficiency in electrical,
mechanical design, innovation and
optimisation. `The road not taken' requires
participants to build automated
robots with on-board cameras which
can guide itself through an intricate
maze of roads in a virtual city.
Robot Soccer is sure to be the crowd
puller as these players with the nerves
of steel try to outsmart their counterparts
in the battle for their ultimate
prize - the `Robocup'.
The traditional line follower now extends
to a robot that can find its way
through the `Micro Maze'. It is heyday
for the designer to exhibit their talents
in designing a boat that can sail through
troubled waters in `The Designer's
In addition to technical and management
events, Kurukshetra is packed
with numerous on-spot and online
events. A key to be watched is the `Vestas
Innovation Challenge' which is expected
to be a challenge for the
engineering minds. Log on to www.kurukshetra.
