Life Insurance internships

Max New York Life Insurance has announced the launch of Smart Move, for which it has collaborated with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), to offer internships to over 10,000 students. The programme will provide students an opportunity to earn while learning. They will be provided three days of intense training on all concepts and aspects of life insurance, the organisation and the recruitment process.

Trained interns can recruit agent advisors and on each successful recruitment of an agent advisor, they will be remunerated as per the Smart Move Internship Programme. In addition to the rewards and recognition schemes offered by Max New York Life, if an intern recruits three or more agents, he qualifies for a pre-placement interview, clearing which he may be absorbed as a permanent employee.

Rajagiri Business School, founded by the Rajagiri College of Social Sciences Society, based in Kochi, has announced admissions to its 2009 PGDM, MBA and MHRM programmes. PGDM focuses on current developments in knowledge and practice from the world of management with emphasis on quantitative skills, soft skills and social sensitivity.

Those with a pass in any Bachelor’s degree with not less than 50 per cent marks in aggregate in Arts and Commerce degrees and 55 per cent for all other degrees can apply. Selection will be through MAT/CAT/SAT, group discussion and interview. The MBA and MHRM programmes are aimed at developing leadership and decision-making skills based on the foundations of integrity and ethical commitment. Gaming course

Enabling technical artists to design and create content for real-time 3D games for the next generation is ANT Gaming’s Gamefactor. Gamefactor integrated programme has a course structure design which arms the students with the knowledge and skills that will help their career grow globally. This is ensured by introducing new tools and workflow, which are in use and implemented internationally in game studios and development houses. The course is divided into four logical modules: Understanding Gaming Concepts, Building Gaming Worlds, Advance Level Editing, Creating a MOD.

There are two courses that Gamefactor offers. Game Programme 1 (Gamefactor ) is for students who already have knowledge of max/maya with artistic skills and played games. Game Programme 2 (Gamefactor+ ) is for students who have creative ability, but do not have knowledge of max/maya. They will be taught max and maya in relevance to gaming. The course fee for Gamefactor, which lasts six months, is Rs. 1,25,000 and the course fee for Gamefactor+ is Rs. 1,55,000 and it lasts nine months.

REACH programme

MetaMorph Learning Private Limited, an organisation providing employability training for the retail industry, has announced the national launch of its “REACH - Retail Employability and Careers Hub” training programme for employment in the retail industry. It is aimed at matriculates, college dropouts and other unemployed youth. REACH will offer its services to retail houses for training and recruitment of entry-level store personnel. . In addition, it is working with NGOs such as Karnataka-based Ujjivan and Myrada in training people from disadvantaged sections of the society and helping them get employment in the retail sector. Already companies such as Reliance and Arvind Brands are on board and more are expected in the coming months. REACH targets training and placing over 1.5 lakh candidates in the next three years.

Knowledge Commission contest

The National Knowledge Commission has launched an online contest called “Join The Movement…Towards a Knowledge Society.” The categories of the competition include Film, for which the topic is “How can I make a difference in transforming India?”

There is a debating contest, in which the two topics are “Realising India’s demographic dividend” and “Introducing Vocational Education in Schools.” There is also an essay competition – “Unleashing India’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Potential” and “Expansion, Excellence and Equity in Education.”

The winners get to meet Sam Pitroda, Chairman, National Knowledge Commission, and the contest offers cash prizes of more than Rs. 1.5 lakh and certificates to 500 entries. Log on to www.knowledgecommission.gov.in/
