What is the meaning of `period' in the following sentence: I don't want to meet her, period?

(C. V. H. Manivel, Erode)

Americans refer to what we in India call `full stop' as `period'. When you say, `I don't want to meet her, period', it means it is the end of the sentence. You have completed saying what you wanted to say, and do not wish to discuss the matter any further.

It's your way of informing the listener, as far as you are concerned, the matter is closed.

Your decision is final; you are not going to meet the girl.

I'm not going to give you a raise, period.
