Aakruti Bhatia, a school girl in Delhi died of asthma attack as the school authorities failed to offer help when she had a seizure. Prior to that, another school girl from the same city died when her teacher made her stand under scorching sun for four hours. In a more recent incident in our state, one more girl was rendered partially limp after her teacher forced her to do 200 pull-ups. Such ghastly incidents speak loads about our apathy towards the rights of children.
Recount the incidents of your childhood, wield a pen and write to us on how to curb such tendencies. Send your response in not more than 200 words. Email your thoughts to collegian@thehindu.co.in and don’t forget to attach a picture (taken in a digital camera) of yourself. The best responses will be published in these columns.
