M.Tech. Optoelectronics
The Department of Optoelectronics under the University of Kerala has invited applications for admission to M.Tech. course in electronics and communication (optoelectronics and optical communication). It is a two-year fulltime four-semester course. Total seats: 18.
Eligibility
BE or B.Tech. degree with 55 per cent marks in electronics/electrical and electronics/electronics and communication engineering/applied electronics and instrumentation or M.Sc. in physics or applied physics or electronic science or electronics. SC/ST applicants require 50 per cent marks in the qualifying examination. Selection will be made on the basis of GATE score. If GATE-qualified candidates are not available, non-GATE applicants will be considered, and admission will be given on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance test and marks secured in the qualifying examination.
For admission to the sponsored seats, the applicants also should have a minimum of two years’ work experience. Tuition fee per semester for the M.Tech. course is Rs.8,500

Filled-in applications along with a demand draft for Rs.510 drawn in favour of Finance Officer, University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram from SBI or SBT or District Co-operative banks payable at Thiruvananthapuram and attested true copies of relevant certificates should be sent to the Professor and Head, Department of Optoelectronics, University of Kerala, Kariavattom, Thiruvananthapuram –695581 so as to reach the addressee on or before July 20. Entrance test for non-GATE applicants will be held on July 30.
M.Tech. Computer science
The Department of Computer Science under the University of Kerala has invited applications for admission to an M.Tech. course in computer science with specialisation in digital image computing. Total seats: 18
Eligibility
BE or B.Tech. degree in computer science and engineering/electronics/electrical engineering with 55 per cent marks or first class Masters degree in computer science/computer applications. Selection is on the basis of valid GATE score. For sponsored seats, applicants should have two years’ fulltime work experience and not above 45 years of age. Non-GATE applicants will be considered for open seats on the basis of departmental level entrance test and marks obtained in the qualifying examination in the ratio 60:40. GATE qualified students will get monthly scholarship. Semester tuition fee is Rs.8,500.

B.Ed. courses
The LBS Centre for Science and Technology has invited applications for admission to the B.Ed. courses conducted in government/aided/private self-financing colleges in the State for 2009-10. Duration of the course is one year with two semesters. Approximately 14,500 seats are available. There are 176 colleges/institutions including four government training colleges and 17 aided training colleges.
Application forms are being distributed through the district-level LBS facilitation centres.
For getting forms, one should hand over a challan receipt for Rs.410 from select branches of a nationalised bank in the name of LBS centre.
There will be separate application forms for general and SC/ST students. Filled-in application forms along with attested copies of relevant certificates should be submitted to the district-level LBS facilitation centres on or before July 20. Besides this, register online through www.lbscentre.org. Options for B.Ed. subjects/streams and colleges can be registered through www.lbscentre.org.
Candidates can opt for all the available options if they desire so. Rank list will be prepared on the basis of total marks obtained in part III subjects in the qualifying examination including weightage marks for PG degree, NSS/NCC certificate at the degree level. Based on rank, the centralised seat allotment process will be done through a single-window system. The personal and academic details of applicants and provisional ranks in the chosen streams will be published on the web site.
Eligibility
Admission to merit seats is open to Keralites. Those who have passed BA/B.Sc. degree examination under 10 +2 +3 pattern with one main subject and two subsidiary subjects with minimum 45 per cent marks in aggregate are eligible to apply. There is no upper age limit for B.Ed. admission.
The optional subjects for the B.Ed. course should be the same as the one which the student has selected as main subject for graduation. Eligibility for different B.Ed. optional subjects is as follows:
•B.Ed. English: BA degree with English languages and literature/Functional English /Communicative English with 45 per cent marks in aggregate or BA/B.Sc. with 50 per cent marks for part I English and not less than 50 per cent marks for Masters degree in English language and literature.
•B.Ed. Malayalam: BA degree with Malayalam language and literature with 45 per cent marks in aggregate or BA/B.Sc. with 50 per cent marks for part II Malayalam and not less than 50 per cent marks for Masters degree in Malayalam language and Literature.
•B.Ed. Hindi: BA degree with Hindi language and literature with 45 per cent marks in aggregate or BA/B.Sc. with 50 per cent marks for Part II Hindi and not less than 50 per cent marks for Masters degree in Hindi language and literature.
•B.Ed. Arabic: BA degree with Arabic language and literature with 45 per cent marks or BA/B.Sc. with 50 per cent marks for Part II Arabic and not less than 50 per cent marks for Masters degree in Arabic language and literature.
•B.Ed. Tamil: BA degree with Tamil Language and literature with 45 per cent marks in aggregate or BA/B.Sc. with 50 per cent marks for Part II Tamil and not less than 50 per cent marks for Masters degree in Tamil language and literature.
•B.Ed. Sanskrit: BA degree with Sanskrit language and literature with 45 per cent marks in aggregate or BA/B.Sc. with 50 per cent marks for part II Sanskrit and not less than 50 per cent marks for Masters Degree in Sanskrit language and literature.
•B.Ed. Urdu: BA degree with Urdu language and literature with 45 per cent marks in aggregate or BA/B.Sc. with 50 per cent marks for part II Urdu and not less than 50 per cent marks for Masters degree in Urdu language and literature.
•B.Ed. Mathematics: B.Sc. degree with mathematics/statistics/applied statistics as main with 45 per cent marks in aggregate. Applicants with statistics/applied statistics should have studied mathematics as one of the subjects.
•B.Ed. physical science: B.Sc. with physics/chemistry/polymer chemistry/ geology/ petrochemicals/
biochemistry/industrial chemistry main with 45 per cent marks in aggregate.
•B.Ed. Natural Science: B.Sc. with botany/zoology/biochemistry/plant science/home science (with zoology or botany as subsidiaries)
•B.Ed. Geography: Bachelors degree with geography as main subject under part III with 45 per cent marks in aggregate.
•B.Ed. Social Science: BA with history/arabic and Islamic history main with 45 per cent marks in aggregate or BA with geography/politics/economics/sociology/psychology/philosophy/West Asian studies under Part III and with 45 per cent marks in aggregate.
•B.Ed. Commerce: M.Com. with not less than 45 per cent marks alone are eligible for admission.
•B.Ed. Information Technology: MCA/M.Sc. Computer Science/M.Sc. Electronics with minimum of 45 per cent marks.
•B.Ed. Computer Science: MCA/M.Sc. Computer science/M.Sc. electronics with a minimum of 45 per cent marks.

In private self-financing colleges, 50 per cent of the seats under government quota will be filled up on the basis of merit by observing reservation policy of the State government.
