Fellowship for TNAU student
G.C. Jayashree, a Ph. D. scholar, Department of Farm Machinery, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, has been awarded the senior research fellowship by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) for three years. The fellowship is to pursue her doctorate programme. She will receive a stipend of Rs. 14,000 every month for three years.
Ms. Jayashree has undertaken her research in “Design and Development of Pulsed-Sprayer for Spot Application” under the chairmanship of D. Ananthakrishnan, professor, Department of Farm Machinery.
The sensor-guided pulsed-spray technique will identify the exact target area and the nozzle will spray only the pre-determined quantity of spray chemical for each plant.
The use of this spraying will enable application of pesticides precisely on individual plants.
This will reduce the consumption and contamination of environment.
