What is the meaning of the word ‘ilk’?
(A.C. Vijayan, Chennai)
This Scottish word rhymes with ‘silk’ and ‘milk’. It means ‘same’; therefore when you are referring to someone’s ilk, you could be referring to the members of his family. The word can also be used to refer to a particular class.
* Ram Mohan and his ilk were present at the wedding.
