MBBS/BDS entrance test 2010

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has invited applications for the all India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination 2010 for admission to MBBS/BDS courses under the 15 per cent merit seat quota in medical and dental colleges across the country.

The preliminary examination will be held on April 3, 2010 and those who qualify in this test can appear for the final examination to be held on May 16, 2010.

Eligibility

Applicants should have completed 17 years of age and should not have exceeded 25 years as on December 31, 2010.

The upper age limit is relaxable by five years for SC, ST and OBC candidates.

The number of attempts should not exceed three. Those who have passed their Plus Two exams with an aggregate of 50 per cent marks in physics, chemistry and biology can apply. Those who are appearing for the Plus Two examinations in 2010 can also apply.

How to apply

Application forms and information bulletin can be obtained from select branches of Canara Bank on payment of Rs.800 till November 27.

In Tamil Nadu, Canara Bank branches at Chennai (Mount road, Mylapore, Tayagarajanagar, Triplicane), Salem, Tiruchi , Ootakamund, Coimbatore, Madurai, Nagarcoil, Dindigul, Kumbakonam, and in Karnataka, Canara Bank branches at Bangalore (cantonment, World Trade Centre, Malleshwaram, Jayanagar), Mysore, Dharwar, Bidar, Bijapur, Belgaum, Hubli, Bellary and Mangalore will distribute application forms.

Interested candidates can also make a written request for application forms and information bulletin accompanied by a demand draft for Rs. 850 drawn in favour of secretary, CBSE, New Delhi and a self-addressed envelope (12” X10”), to the deputy secretary (AIPMT), CBSE, Preet Vihar, Delhi-110301, so as to reach the addressee on or before November 18.

Applications can also be submitted online through the web site www.aimpt.nic.in up to November 27 and the print-out of the application along with required fee should also be sent to above mentioned address. The last date for receiving the filled-in applications is December 4.

B.Sc. (nursing)

Applications are invited from female candidates for admission to the four-year B.Sc. (Nursing) course at the College of Nursing under the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, and the three-and-a-half year Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery course conducted at various armed forces hospitals. Selected candidates should execute an agreement/bond to serve in the Military Nursing Service for five years. Those who are admitted need not pay tuition fee. The entire cost of training will be met by the Central government. During the training, the students will get free ration, accommodation, uniform allowance and monthly stipend. On successful completion of these courses, candidates will be granted commission in the Military Nursing Service.

Eligibility

Unmarried/divorce/legally separated females or widows (without encumbrance) born between August 1, 1985 and July 31, 1993 are eligible to apply.

They should have passed in the first attempt the senior secondary /10+2/equivalent examination with minimum 50 per cent aggregate marks in physics, chemistry and biology in regular stream. Those appearing for final-year of qualifying examination in 2010 are eligible to apply. Those who have passed Plus Two examination as private students are not eligible. Applicants should have medical and physical fitness.

How to apply

Application format, admit card and complete details have been published in the Employment News dated October 10-16, 2009. Information is also available on the web site www.indianarmy.nic.in/www.indianarmy.gov.in.

Apply on an A4 size paper in the prescribed format as per instructions given in the notification. Filled-in application along with photocopies of relevant certificates should be sent to Integrated HQ of MOD (Army), Director General of Medical Services (Army), DGMS- 4B, AG’s Branch, Room No- 45, ‘L’ Block, Hutments, New Delhi- 110001, so as to reach the addressee on or before November 20.

Selection

Eligible applicants will be called for an objective-type written test of 90 minutes duration covering General English, biology and general intelligence likely to be held in January/February 2010. Those who qualify in this test will be called for interview during March/April 2010. Final selection will be based on combined merit, subject to medical fitness. The written test centres will include Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Chennai, Bangalore, Vishakapatanam, Lucknow, Mumbai and Delhi.
