IIST entrance test
The Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram, has invited online applications for its national-level entrance test to be held on April 17, 2010 from 10 a.m. to noon and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. for admission to B.Tech. programmes in aerospace engineering, avionics and physical sciences. The test will consist of two papers covering questions from physics, chemistry and mathematics. This objective multiple-choice type test will be held at Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode in Kerala. Total intake for these three programmes is 160. IIST will provide assistance to all the students to cover the cost of education, boarding and lodging and a book grant of Rs.3000 per semester. Medical insurance and medical care will also be provided.
Candidates must have 70 per cent marks in physics, chemistry and mathematics taken together in their Plus Two examination and should have passed 10th Standard with 70 per cent marks in aggregate. Those appearing for the final Plus Two examination in March/April 2010 will also be considered. The applicants must be born on or after October 1, 1985.

Ph.D. programme
Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology has invited applications for admission to its Ph.D. programme starting February 2010 in the areas of aerospace engineering, avionics, chemistry, earth and space sciences, mathematics and physics. Selection will be based on a written test followed by an interview to be conducted during the third or fourth week of January in Thiruvananthapuram. Outstation candidates will be paid to and fro sleeper class train fare by th eshortest route.
Eligibility is a Master's degree in the relevant area with pass in first class. However outstanding candidates with Bachelor's degree in engineering with an excellent academic record and aptitude for research may be considered for direct admission to the Ph.D. programme. Age: below 28 years as on January 1, 2010. Admission is open only for Indian citizens.
Application forms can be downloaded from the website www.iist.ac.in and should be sent to the Administration Officer, IIST, ISRO Post, Thiruvananthapuram-695022 so as to reach the addressee on or before December 31, 2009. The cover should be superscribed as ‘Application for IIST PhD Programme 2010.' All the selected research fellows will be eligible to get research fellowship of Rs.35,000 per month. BARC courses
The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) has invited application for its Ph.D. programme starting September 2010. Selection is based on a valid GATE score 2009/ 2010/ JEST 2010 or a written test followed by an interview. Duration of fellowship is four years. The fellowship amount is Rs.12,000 per month for the first and second years and Rs.14,000 per month for the subsequent years.
Eligibility: Those having M.Sc. in physics, chemistry, biology or related science subject with minimum of 60 per cent marks in M.Sc. degree as well as B.Sc. degree or B.E./ B.Tech. degree with 60 per cent marks in chemical, computer, electrical, electronics, mechanical, metallurgy and instrumentation. Those who have appeared and are awaiting final result are also eligible to apply. Applicants should be Indian citizens and should have been born on or after September 1, 1984. Admission to MBA
The Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM), Tiruchirappalli, has invited applications for admission to the two-year fulltime MBA programme with specialisation in marketing, finance, operations, systems and human resource management. Eligibility is Bachelor's or postgraduate degree in any discipline with minimum of 50 per cent marks. Final-year degree students may also apply.
Selection is based on IIM-CAT 2009 score, group discussion and interview.
