Surya Engineering College, Erode, organised a conference on Computing and Communication Technologies recently.

General Manager, Research and Development, Welding Research Institute and plant Labs, BHEL, Tiruchy, delivered the inaugural address. Bannari Amman Institute of Technology principal A.Shanmugam delivered the valedictory address and distributed the certificates. The organisers received 185 research papers for presentation. Of them over 100 papers were selected for presentation. College chairman A. Ramasamy presided.

The HDFC Standard Life and Eureka Forbes conducted a campus recruitment drive at Sri Kandhan College of Arts and Science in Gopalapuram recently.

Twelve students were selected for various positions in HDFC Standard Life and 35 students were selected for the position of Sales Development Managers and Customer Sales Specialist in Eureka Forbes. College president G. Saravanaraj handed over the offer letters to the selected candidates. Principal A. Rajendran, Placement and Training Coordinator Ms. Mercy Lydia were present.

SSM College of Arts and Science, Komarapalayam, celebrated its 4th Annual day recently.

Periyar University Vice-Chancellor M. Thangaraju, participating in the celebrations, stressed the need for improving the access to higher education to all sections of the society. College chairman M.S. Mathivanan presided. Cultural programmes marked the celebrations.

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Nanda Engineering College, conducted a technical symposium recently.

The organisers received over 600 papers for presentation in the symposium. Of them 19 papers were selected for presentation. A quiz competition and an exhibition were also conducted as a part of the event.

A conference on Advanced Telecommunication technology was held at the KSR College of Engineering, Tiruchengode, recently.

Consultant from Wipro M.S. Sricharan delivered a special address. He said teachers should play the role of facilitators in order to ensure effectiveness in the teaching and learning process. College chairman K.S. Rangasamy presided.

JKK Nataraja College of Engineering and Technology, Komarapalayam, celebrated the college day recently. Senior General Manager from Hexaware Technologies Hari Govinda Tilak delivered a special lecture. He explained the opportunities available for the engineering students in different fields including information technology.

M. Prabhu, first year student of KSR Polytechnic College, Tiruchengode, won the gold medal in 110 metres hurdles, silver medal in 100 metres and 200 metres running at a sports event held in CSI Polytechnic College recently.

College Chairman K.S. Rangasamy and faculty members appreciated the student.

The Science Club of Shree Venkateshwara Hi-Tech Engineering College, Gobichettipalayam, organised a science awareness programme for the students recently.

Professor from Annamalai University C.Karthikeyan inaugurated the event. Competitions such as paper presentation, multimedia presentations, essay writing and quiz were conducted. College Chairman P. Venkatachalam presided.

The Department of Mathematics of Erode Sengunthar Engineering College, Erode, conducted a training programme on LeTex, a document preparation system recently. Faculty from more than 12 engineering college participated in the training programme. College Correspondent J. Sudhanandhen presided. The Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering organised a conference on innovation in instrumentation and intelligent technologies.

V. Saranya and J. Shivaranjani of Maharaja College for Women, Perundurai in Erode, won the first and second place respectively in the oral presentation event at a seminar held in Dr. G.R. Damodaran College of Science in Coimbatore. College chairman and faculty members congratulated the students.

SSM College of Engineering, Komarapalayam, celebrated its 12th sports day recently. Inspector General of Police, Coimbatore, P. Sivanandi inaugurated the sports day. Speaking on the occasion, he asked the students to take more interest in sports and games.

Namakkal district Superintendent of Police A. Pari and College Chairman M.S. Mathivanan participated in the celebrations.

The National Service Scheme units of Vellalar College for Women, Erode, conducted a workshop on water conservation to mark the World Water Day.

Head of the Department of Social Work,Bharathiar University,Coimbatore, A.Sethuraman Subbiah, was the resource person.

He called upon the students to spread awareness among people on the importance of water conservation. Over 800 students participated in the workshop. Three documentary films were screened during the programme.

Mupperum Vizha, Graduation Day, Toppers Noon and Cultural Festival of Paavai Educational Institutions were celebrated recently. CA.N.V. Natarajan, Chairman, Paavai Institutions, presided over the functions.

M.Thangaraju, Periyar University Vice-Chancellor, was the chief guest for the graduation day.

The Toppers Noon was led by Vijay TV fame Gopinath. He asked the students to be proud of the fact that they were Indians, that they were well qualified and had the basic amenities to live with art forms, technology and music.

The annual day was graced by actor R. Sivakumar. In his keynote address, he urged the students to live a life that would be respected and admired after one's death.

Good education, health, prosperity, kindness, care and concern were the essentials of life, and not money, he added. He asked everyone to be punctual and hardworking to achieve great heights. J. Chandrakumar, District Collector, Salem, and representatives from the industry were present.

P. Ravichandrran, president, IMA, Tirupur, speaking at a seminar in Chikkanna Government Arts College in Tirupur.

The Chikkanna Government Arts College, Tirupur, organised a two-day seminar on ‘Strategies of marketing bio products' on March 26 and 27. The event was funded by University Grants Commission.

Topics like provisions of World Trade Organisation, marketing medico biotech products, bio industries ventures of future international trade and regulations and sale of biotech products in India were deliberated. Experts from Tamil Nadu and Kerala delivered special lectures.
