Techfest gets UNESCO patronage
Techfest, the annual International Science and Technology Festival of IIT Bombay to be held from January 9 to 11, now has UNESCO Patronage, the organisation's highest form of support.
“The honour has been extended to the festival given its innovative programmes that include competitions and lectures that create awareness about sustainability, conservation of resources, social entrepreneurship etc,” Neeraj Kookada, student organiser, said.
This year too, Techfest 2011 will have everything to conquer one's imagination — from challenging competitions to lectures by luminaries, from incredible workshops to fun-filled O-zone,
The Green Campus Initiative of Techfest is an attempt to contribute its bit towards tackling some of the biggest challenges ever faced by mankind. The Inter-IIT Energy General Championship also helps to achieve the festival's objectives of energy conservation.
VeriZon is a social entrepreneurship competition that aims at encouraging the youth of India to take up social responsibilities for the betterment of the society.
