ICAR test for degree, PG courses

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi, has invited applications from eligible candidates for an entrance examination for admission to degree and post-graduation courses in agricultural universities in 2011-12.
Under its quota, the ICAR has set aside 15 per cent seats (tentative) for Bachelor degrees and 25 per cent seats (tentative) for Master's degrees at State agricultural universities, Central Agricultural University, Imphal, Central Universities with agricultural faculty (Banaras Hindu University, Viswa Bharati, Nagaland University and Aligarh Muslim University (for PG only)) and SHIATS Allahabad.
Based on the results of the examination, National Talent Scholarships (NTS) will be awarded to bachelor degree students and 475 ICAR-Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) to Master's degree students.
Bachelor degree programmes (viz. B.Sc./B.Tech./B.F.Sc) are in the subjects of Agriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, Dairy Technology, Biotechnology, Forestry, Food Science, Fisheries Sciences, Home Science, Sericulture, Agricultural Marketing, Banking and Co-operation, and Commercial Agriculture and Business Management.
Examination for undergraduate candidates will be held on April 16 and for PG students on April 17.
Master's programmes are in the field of Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Agri- Engineering, Home Science, Biotechnology, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, Dairy Technology, Fisheries, Veterinary, and allied sciences.
Application forms are available till February 15, 2011.
Candidates aged between 17 and 23 years as on August 31, 2011 are eligible.
For PG entrance test, candidates not less than 19 years as on August 31, 2011, are eligible. They must not have been born after September 1, 1992.
Application forms can be obtained from the offices of the Registrars of Agricultural Universities viz. KVAFSU, Bidar; UAS, GKVK, Bangalore; UAS, Dharwad' UAS Raichur; and University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot.
The last date for the receipt of applications at the office of the Controller of Examinations (Education), Room No. 216, ICAR, Krishi Anusandhan Bhavan-II, Pusa, New Delhi–110012 for both UG and PG examinations is February 15.
