Navarathri celebrations
SRI VISALAKSHI Ambal Udanurai Sri Virupaksheeswarar temple is celebrating Navarathri festival till Oct. 23 at the temple premises, Bazaar Road, Mylapore. There will be special abishekam to the deity of Ambal at 8 a.m.
The deity will be adorned with special alankarams everyday at 6 p.m. followed by discourse at 7 p.m. and Maha Deeparadhanai at 8.30 p.m.
At P. S. School: Apart of its centenary celebrations, the school (Ph: 2495 7591) has organised a week-long Harikatha programme by Kalyanapuram Aaravamudachariyar from Oct. 17-23 at 6 p.m. during Navarathri. Open to public, the venue will be Dakshinamurthy auditorium at the school campus.
At Bhavan: The festival is on at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore till Oct. 23. The evening programmes comprise music, villupattu, dance drama and Bharatanatyam.
At West Mambalam: Celebrations will be on till Oct. 23 at Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, Sankara Matam. Music programmes start at 7.15 p.m. Special pujas and homams will be conducted against sponsorship. Those who wish to take part may send in their cheques in the name of Bagawat Padal Asthana Nirvaga Sangam (Ph: 2489 0018/2471 3272).
At Besant Nagar: Bhaktha Mandali, 6th Cross Street (Ph: 2491 0405) is celebrating with music programmes from Oct. 15-23 at Sri Ratnagiriswarar temple.
At Nanganallur: A Navarathri Chandi Homam will be performed on Oct. 17 at 7 a.m. by Brahmasri Ramamoorthy Sastrigal at Sree Siddhi Vinayagar temple, State bank Colony. For details/donations, contact: 2234 0333.
At Thirumaadakoil: Sri Varasakthi Vinayakar Temple at Nanganallur is celebrating the fest with Lalitha Sahasranamam chanting at 11 a.m. and devotional music at 6 p.m. on all days.
At Bengal Association: The association at T. Nagar (Ph: 2826 5557) is celebrating Durga Puja from Oct. 19-23 with special pujas. Lakshmi puja will be on Oct. 27 and Kali puja on Nov. 11.
At Saidapet: Srinagar Colony Sath Sangam is celebrating Navarathri at Sri Varasiddhi Vinayagar Mahalakshmi temple, Srinagar Colony (Ph: 2235 5796) till Oct. 23. The deity will be adorned with flowers on all days. Concerts will be held at 6.30 p.m. Sponsorships are invited.
At Selaiyur: Chennai Om Sri Skandasramam Charitable Trust, Mahalakshmi Nagar, Selaiyur (Ph: 2229 0134) is celebrating its sixth Saradha Navarathri till Oct. 23. Matha Sri Bhuvaneswari will appear in special alankarams on all days. The festivities conclude with a Chandi Homam.
At Villivakkam: The festival is on at Sathguru Sath Sangam (Ph: 2617 4394) till Oct. 22. The venue for music programmes will be Vasantha Mandapam till Oct. 16, Sri Bala Vinayakar temple (Oct. 17-19) and Sri Hayagreevar Sannadhi Manimandapam (Oct. 20-22).
At Sembakkam: Shri Vedavyasar Tapovanam, Kamarajapuram (Ph: 2227 2967) is celebrating from Oct. 15-23. Abishekams and Lalitha Sahasranama Archanai will be performed to Sri Rajarajeswari Ambal by Guru Kasi Viswanathar. Neyveli Santhanagopalan will be conferred the title, `Shri Vedavyasa Ganamani' on Vijayadasami. Music programmes are scheduled for the evenings at 6.30.
At Adambakkam: The celebrations will start at Sri Bhuvaneswari Baktha Mandali (Ph: 2253 2323) from Oct. 15-23. A Dasamahavidya Homam will be performed and the deity presented with different alankarams. Donations are invited.
At Vishnu Kanchipuram: The festival is being celebrated at Sri Yathokthakari Swamy temple, 18/47 Mettupalayam Street, Pin-631 501 (Ph: 232 011). Alwar Sathumurai will be on Oct. 22.
At Sai Darshan: As part of the Navarathri festival, Sai Darshan, AJ-41, 4th Street, 9th Main Road, (behind Blue Star), Anna Nagar, invites devotees to participate in the chanting of Lalitha Sahasranama, from October 14 to 22 (7 p.m. to 8.15 p.m.). Special alankaram for Ambal on all the nine days will be a highlight.
