Gifted with pliable voice

STYLISING SWARAS, crisp alapanas and total involvement, highlighted Vasudha Keshav's spicy concert at Sri Tyagaraja Sangeetha Vidwath Samajam. She sang a couple of rare Tyagaraja's songs, including "Naradaguruswamy" after a chic alapana in Durbar. The neraval at the penultimate line of the charanam, "Kshtini Tyagarajavinuta Nammiti... " with appropriate swaras evoked praise. "Sarasiruhanayane" in Amritavarshini with swaras was another noteworthy effort. Vasudha does not muffle her voice which is sweet and pliable. In the higher octaves also there is a certain smoothness as evidenced in her Todi alapana for "Chesina Della."

Violinist Srikanth's fine tuning with charming idioms and phrases gave added glint to the vocalist's melodic exercise. The neraval at the anupallavi and the usual swara duel created the right atmosphere for Kallidaikurichi Sivakumar's telling tani avartanam.Vasudha began with a sloka on Lord Rama in Mayamalavagowla The inclusion of "Pavanaja" (Kurunji) and "Gandhamu Punyaruga" (Punnagavarali) spoke of good planning in giving a holy atmosphere while "Shara Shara Samara" (Kuntalavarali) gave lilting finale to the concert.
