Kumbabhishekam

THE CONSTRUCTION of Sri Sivasakti Samedha Thanumalyeswaran temple at Thiruninravur is complete and Mahakumbabhishekam will take place on November 15 between 6 a.m. and 7.

The temple, shaped like a chariot, will house the tallest lingam, next only to the Brihadiswarar temple, Thanjavur.

Sarvamatha Sathiya Peetam has been maintaining the abode of the lingam, said to have been brought to the place about 5,000 years ago.

Work to establish the lingam on a high pedestal so that devotees can have a glimpse of the deity even from a distance was taken up and has been finished in five months.

Rituals begin on November 12 and culminate in the consecration of the main deity and other shrines in the presence of Saktikulam Karthikeya Swami, who has been the driving force behind the mammoth edifice. The temple has niches for Agathiyar, Poosala Nayanar and Visvakarma.

Contributions may be sent to Sarvamatha Sathiya Peetam, Gomathipuram, Thiruninravur, Chingleput district, 602024. Phone: 26340757.
