Moving short plays

KOOTHU-P-PATTARAI is presenting its new production, "Ayindhu Siru Kadaigal" (five short stories) at MGR Janaki School, Opp. Aavichi Hr. Sec. School, Arcot Road, Vadapalani. The play opens on December 24 and closes on Dec. 28 and will be staged at 7 p.m. everyday. Donor passes will be available at the venue. For details, call: 2479 3301/5537 3633.

The evening starts with Sundar Ramaswamy's "Seethaimarg Siyakai Thool," which is the story of a painter. The second story is "Savachalla" by Munshi Premchand. A powerful story of a man who begs to buy shroud for his dead daughter-in-law, only to blow the money in a wine shop. The third in line is another story by Munshi Premchand, "Periya Idathu Penn" (Bade Ghar Ki Beti in Hindi), the story of how the entry of a bride in a male-dominated household. The fourth story, "Kovil Kaalayum Uzhavumaadum" by Sundar Ramaswamy is about the unusual love of an old man for the earth which bears him. .

"Kadavulum Kandaswamy Pillaiyum" by Pudumai Pittan is the final story.
