Purandaradasa aradhana
ESTABLISHED in 1987, Sri Purandaradasar Baktha Samajam (SPBS) has been formed with an aim at propagating the musical works of Sri Purandaradasa in South India, especially Tamil Nadu. Sri Purandaradasar Aradhana is observed every year in January/February. It comprises conducting of pujas, honouring of Vedic pandits, mini concerts of half-an-hour duration, feeding about 500 people and an evening concert. Vocal music competitions are also held prior to the festival and prizes awarded to the winners.
The concerts of various artistes are also featured in the auspices of the Samajam. Interested musicians and rasikas can become members of the Samajam by registering at its office (Flat "A" Balamurugan flats, 44/32, Azeez Nagar, II Street, Kodambakkam - Ph: 2484 5684/98410 06800).
The Samajam is celebrating the 441st Aradhana of Purandaradasa and music festival on February 8 (8 a.m. onwards) this year. The venue will be Kota Srinivasayya Ramanuja Koodam, 22, Duraiswamy Road, T. Nagar. Eminent musicians will take part.
