Tirtha aradhana

THE 259TH aradhana of Sri Narayana Tirtha was recently held at Tirupoonthuruthy. The inaugural tarangam concerts were broadcast live on the National Network of All India Radio for the first time in 40 years. The festival was presided over by Veera Shanmugamoni, Collector, Thanjavur, after inauguration by Visalam Gopalaswamy.

Students of Sir Sivaswamy Centenary High School of Tirukattupally and Music Academy, presented tarangams. Udayalur K. Kalyanarama Bhagavathar presented nama sankeertanam and Tukaram Ganapathi Maharaj rendered abhangs. Visaka Hariji gave a musical discourse on Narayana Tirtha. More than 75 artistes paid homage to the saint-composer and new tarangams were featured at the festival.
